Grail Mabel Guide
Unlock the rabbit cook when you are ready to play food as a weapon.
Mabel is the grey rabbit on the character select, rolling-pin energy, unlock banner at 200 trophies. She is not a reskin of Ratagnan. Her pool wants food, cheese, carrots, and the 1.0 over-heal rule. If you spend 200 trophies and then buy rapiers, you wasted the gate. This page is her kit. Roster context is the characters hub.
Unlock and first session
Win runs on Ratagnan until the trophy count on the overworld (the cup icon) can pay 200. Open character select, arrow to Mabel, pay, hit Play. Do not buy 40-trophy cosmetics chests on the way unless you already own her. Demo cosmetics carry into 1.0; new chests still do not equal a second hero.
Your first Mabel hour should feel slower than Ratagnan bleed. That is fine. Heals that used to be “undo chip” now spill past the bar with over-heal. You are allowed to enter a player battle above the number you thought was max. That changes node value: a heal node is sometimes offense.
Carrot and cheese
1.0 added Halter weight and Carrot bites. 0.39 added her Iconic Carrot roast dinner. Demo-era cheese tools (grater for bleed-adjacent cheese, slicer that energizes a cheese card, cheese that heals and poisons) are the family. A trait that says “when you play a cheese card, poison cards gain 10 poison” is a Mabel sentence. On Ratagnan it was a trap. Here it is the point.
Commit to food + one status, usually poison. Bleed chip is Ratagnan’s job. If a shop offers Toothpick, ask whether it exists in her pool at all before you plan around it. Pools are unique. Confirm with the cardopedia filter, not with a snapshot you lost to.
Over-heal as a plan
Over-heal is why Mabel’s 1.0 kit is not just “the tank.” Extra healing becomes a buffer for the next bleed snapshot and a resource for slow poison shuffles. Apple-style 10% strip still matters; bigger food strips more. If you only buy empty calories (heal numbers with no strip and no cheese rider), you will be a tall health bar with no engine. Pair food with a poison applicator or an energize-cheese card.
See status effects for poison’s shuffle trigger and the 2x-versus-shield warning. Mabel can wear shields, but poison snapshots will punish that reflex.
Iconic: Carrot roast dinner
Treat the Iconic like a second trait. If it drops, stop adding random rares and start asking every shop whether the card feeds the roast. If it does not drop, do not wait for it. Halter weight and Carrot bites plus a poison card is enough to finish six wins. Iconics are 0.39 spice, not the campaign gate.
Traits and anvil
You still only get three traits. Food traits that mention cheese, carrot, or heal-on-play are the ones you keep. Attack-bleed traits are souvenirs. At the blacksmith, upgrade the cheese or carrot that actually resolved, not a leftover Jab you imported from muscle memory. Upgrades and enchantments still apply: blisters lock sell value. Mabel wants gold for food shops more than Ratagnan wants gold for rapiers. Do not blister your only sellable meal ticket.
PvP as Mabel
You will look like a heal deck. Snapshots will try to out-chip you. If they are bleed, your strip has to fire; raw over-heal without strip just delays the same death. If they are poison, do not race them to empty discard. If they are shock, your energy income is a tax — you still need to draw, so kill on a cycle where shock has not stacked. Scout script: PvP battles.
Fat Mabel decks go first and then stall on 3-pip meals. Stay closer to thin than the portrait suggests. The energy page does not care that you paid 200 trophies.
When Mabel is the wrong spend
If you have not finished a Ratagnan run, keep the 200. If you hate watching heals, keep the 200 and look at Zappy. If you want a ranked call, the character tier list will move with patches; this page will not pretend she is always S-tier. She is the food specialist. Play her when you want that sentence to be the run.
Then open starter builds for a cheese-poison row and the run planner so day 1 does not turn into a rapier museum on a rabbit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many trophies does Mabel cost?
200 on the character select banner shown in launch footage. Win runs on Ratagnan to earn them.
What does Mabel play toward?
Food, cheese, carrots, over-heal, and usually poison. She is not a rapier character.
What is Carrot roast dinner?
Mabel's Iconic card from the 0.39 patch. Build around it if it drops; do not stall a run waiting for it.
Do I need over-heal to play her?
Over-heal is a 1.0 rule that makes her heals more than emergency buttons. You can still win without a dedicated over-heal card if the food engine plays.
Can I use Ratagnan bleed cards on Mabel?
Only if they appear in her pool. Character pools are unique. Check the cardopedia, not a PvP snapshot.
